The Many Filters Found in Automobiles

Your utility vehicle, car, or truck has three to five filters in it. You can determine how many filters are in your automobile by checking your owner’s manual. We can also check your vehicle to let you know whether it has a cabin air filter and/or a transmission filter. Your vehicle definitely has the other three filters that we are going to talk about in this blog post.

Air

The air filter can be found in the engine. This filter makes certain that you have clean air in the combustion chamber. To prevent the air filter from getting clogged, it is important to replace it every 12,000 miles. If you are a low-mileage driver, schedule a filter change annually.

Cabin

As we mentioned above, your vehicle may or may not have a cabin air filter. The most common location of this filter is behind the glove compartment. Generally, the cabin filter should be changed every 30,000 miles. This being said, some filters need to be replaced every 6,000 miles.

Fuel

You’ve got a fuel filter, and it needs to be changed every 30,000 miles. If you are a low-mileage driver, make sure to have the fuel filter changed every two years. You need a clean fuel filter to remove the sediment from the fuel before it is burned in the combustion chamber.

Oil

If you are faithful about having your vehicle’s oil changed, you do not need to worry about the oil filter. Changing the oil filter is part of an oil change service. As such, the oil filter needs to be changed every 3,000 or 5,000 miles. A mechanic will do this automatically when he or she changes the oil.

Transmission

Finally, some vehicles do not have a transmission filter. If your automobile is equipped with one, plan to have it changed every 30,000 miles. This filter gets changed when the transmission oil gets changed. Avoid problems with your transmission by ensuring it is serviced every 30,000 miles.
